We’ll share some of our favourite secrets for you to find yourself, from secret rooms to familiar fan favourite characters and locations. So ready your wand as we reveal the best Harry Potter easter eggs in Hogwarts Legacy and where to find them!

Nearly Headless Nick

Nearly Headless Nick is one of the few familiar characters from the Harry Potter books and movies to appear in Hogwarts Legacy. You can find him roaming the castle in various locations like the Gryffindor common room as well as during the Headless Hunt questline. In this quest Sir Nick’s request to join in with the Headless Hunt’s games are shot down by the decapitated ghost of Sir Patrick Delaney.

As long-time Harry Potter fans will know, Nearly Headless Nick is continually denied admission into the Headless Hunt for not having a fully decapitated head. In the books he is also ridiculed for this at his 500th Deathday party. By the time Harry arrives at Hogwarts, he mentions that his request to join the Hunt has been denied once more. We are therefore left to assume that he continues to ask for an invitation to the Headless hunt for the next century after the events of Hogwarts Legacy.

Peeves The Poltergeist

Although he never appeared in the movies, Peeves the Poltergeist is a prevalent character in the books. You’ll find him throughout the castle in Hogwarts Legacy where he tells jokes and relishes getting you in trouble.

Howler

Walk around long enough in Hogwarts Legacy and you’re bound to come across a student receiving a howler. This references the scene in the Chamber of Secrets when Molly Weasley’s howler gives Ron a telling off in front every student in the great hall.

Deathday Celebrations

You can see a group of ghosts dancing in the Deathday Party Room which is locked behind a gate in the Slytherin Dungeons. This is accessible once you beat the main quest, “The Warden’s Lunar Lament” in the game. Afterward, you can use the Alohomora spell to open the door with a level 1 lock. Once inside you’ll find a reference to the Deathday celebrations Harry and Ron attend during the first book.

The Chamber Of Secrets Entrance

Head down to the Slytherin dungeons to find the same girls bathroom that Moaning Myrtle later calls home and which also contains the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets. Cast Revelio to obtain a field guide page which confirms the presence of a small snake scratched into one of the seemingly ordinary sinks.

Brewing Polyjuice Potion

There’s a direct reference to the polyjuice potion that Hermionie brews in the Chamber of Secrets. Head up to the girls bathroom near professor Fig’s classroom and open the left-most cubicle to find a brewing polyjuice station someone has left behind.

Mini Quidditch Game

Although Quidditch isn’t playable in Hogwarts Legacy, you can actually find a miniature version of the iconic magical sport being played in Madam Kogawa’s office. You’ll find her office near the actual Quidditch Pitch to the north of the castle overlooking where you have your first flying lesson early on in the game.

Goblet Of Fire Casket

Head up the grand staircase to the top floor to find the trophy room. Once inside, you’ll find the same jewel-encrusted casket that holds the Goblet Of Fire. Cast Revelio to find a field guide page confirming that this is indeed the same goblet used to select the champions for the Triwizard Tournament, as seen in the Harry Potter books and movies.

Wizard’s Chess

Inside Professor Weasley’s transfiguration classroom, you’ll find a giant white chess piece. This is a direct reference to the game of wizard’s chess Harry and Ron play during the climax of the Philosopher’s stone.

Prefect’s Bathroom

After learning Alohomora in ‘The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament’ quest, you’ll be able to access the prefect’s bathroom featuring a beautiful painted mural depicting a mermaid. Fans will recall that this is the place Harry took the golden egg for a bath to discover the riddle for the second task in the Goblet of Fire.

One-Eyed Witch Passage

To find the One-Eyed-Witch passage, fast travel to the Grand Staircase Floo Flame and head up the stairs until you encounter the first hallway opening on your right. Alternatively, you’ll come across it during an early quest when Gareth Wealsey needs you to obtain a potion ingredient from Honeydukes cellar.

This secret passage was mentioned by Fred and George Weasly in the Prisoner of Azkaban movie when they introduce Harry to the Maurauder’s map. They show Harry an alternative way to get to Hogsmede via the One-Eyed Witch Passage to get to Honeydukes cellar.

Hippogriff Gravestone

Head over to the south side of the castle to find Hagrid’s Hut. Walk around the back of the hut to find a gravestone engraved with a Hippogriff. This serves as a nod to Hargid’s beloved Hippogriff, Buckbeak from Harry Potter and the Prisoner Of Azkaban.

Partially Transfigured Teacup

Inside the Transfiguration classroom you can find a field guide page for a partially transfigured teacup featuring a rat’s tail. This is a reference to the time Ron transfigures Scabber’s into a similar looking cup thanks to his broken wand in the Chamber of Secrets.

Hagrids Hut

Everyone’s favourite gamekeeper’s future home can be found in Hogwarts Legacy. Head to the south side of the castle, across the wooden bridge and downhill from the standing stones to find it. Complete with a cosy interior and pumpkin patch, Hargrid’s hut is a staple in the Harry Potter books and movies.
